Nick Saban has been head football coach at the University of Alabama since 2007. He has the most national championships of any coach in college football history, six of them with Alabama. He has undoubtedly built is own legacy in Alabama. But in a 2022 interview he told SEC Network “I still think in my mind, he’s  (Bear Bryant) the greatest coach of all time. I still look up to him just that way. If it wasn’t for the legacy of what he did at Alabama, there would be no way that we could have the success that we’ve had at Alabama. He established the tradition and the standard that helped us emulate it to a degree. He was really the pioneer that set the standard for a lot of things in our profession.”
